Sash Window Parts
Sliding sash windows are a beautiful and traditional feature of many homes, but they require regular maintenance to keep them functioning correctly.
Sash windows are a beautiful and traditional feature of many homes and renowned for their prestigious traditional appearance. The ‘sash’ itself refers to the upper and lower parts of the window and single-hung windows have one sash that moves up and down, while double-hung windows have two sashes that can move independently of each other.
Unfortunately, sash windows generally require more maintenance than double glazed windows and over time, sash window parts can become worn, damaged, or corroded, leading to problems with the window’s operation. Regular maintenance and occasional lubrication can help extend the life of these parts, but eventually, they may need to be replaced to ensure the window’s proper operation.
Common problems include sash cords breaking, pulleys becoming worn, and sash locks not working correctly. When these issues arise, it’s essential to repair or replace the affected parts to ensure the window’s proper operation.

Our range of sash window parts can help repair any issues that may arise and ensure your windows remain in excellent condition for years to come, whether your window is uPVC, timber or aluminium.
Spiral balances are a modern replacement for the traditional lead weights used to counterbalance the sash. The spiral balances use a spring mechanism to support the weight of the sash and make it easier to slide up and down. Good fitch catches are important for safety and window security. These lock the two sashes together when the window is closed and keeps them tightly in place. We stock locking and non-locking varieties.
We have pull handles for opening and closing the window from the inside and travel restrictors that limit the sash’s opening distance to ensure safety.
Tilt latches allow the sash to tilt inward for easy cleaning and maintenance. These latches are located on the top of the sash and release it from the frame when pulled, allowing you to tilt it forward. Tilt latches are often combined with spiral balances to provide additional support when the sash is tilted. They are an excellent feature if you find it difficult to clean the exterior of your windows.
We also have an extensive range of pivot shoes, including a pivot shoe kit with 16 shoes in a variety of shoe types. It’s handy if you’re in the trade and want a range of shoes to keep on the van.
