Mortice Lock Measurements
When replacing a mortice lock, be sure to check the following aspects of the existing lock.
The PZ size is the dimension between the spindle hole and the cylinder (as shown below). If a mortice lock has two spindle holes it will have two different PZ sizes.
Also make sure to compare the backset size. The backset is the measurement from the end to the centre of the cylinder. Don’t forget to measure the overall height and width of the faceplate as well.
